For your role
Spectr for founders
You are doing the product job in the gaps between everything else. So tickets get written fast and thin, requirements live in your head, and prioritisation defaults to whatever you heard most recently. Spectr drafts the backlog from calls you were already having, and puts scope and budget somewhere you can check without asking anyone.
All the product context is in one head, and that head is busy
It works right up until it does not. Your second engineer joins and has to work out why the data model looks like that. A client remembers a commitment differently and there is no record either way. The month's burn turns out higher than you thought and you find out from an export. None of that is a failure of effort. It is what happens when the only index of a project is one person's memory.
What it actually looks like
Eight people, one client project and your own product. You are PM for both.
Monday
Two customer calls and an internal sync. Previously: none of it written down beyond your own notes.
Monday 7pm
You import all three. Twenty minutes later you have a reviewed backlog for both projects and have rejected the four things you are not doing.
Tuesday
A client asks about a feature they think is in scope. You open the scope log - raised three weeks ago, deferred, with the transcript attached.
Wednesday
You check the client project's budget yourself instead of asking. 62% spent, 58% delivered. Fine.
Thursday
Planning. You want to rebuild search. The spec quotes PostHog: nobody is using the current one enough to justify it. Search waits.
Month 3
A new engineer reads the project knowledge base and asks you six questions instead of forty.
A product job you were not doing at all has turned into twenty minutes on a Monday evening - and the questions you used to answer in person now answer themselves.
A backlog out of the calls you already have
Customer conversations, investor updates, engineering syncs - import from Fathom, Granola, Read.ai or Fireflies, or paste a transcript. Spectr pulls out requirements, bugs, decisions and action items and drafts a story for each. Twenty minutes of reviewing instead of two hours of writing.
Check scope and budget yourself
Out-of-scope work is flagged as it comes up, with a decision recorded on each flag. Connect Harvest and budget against spend sits on a page you can open rather than in a report you have to ask for. Both are on every plan, including Free.
The context stops living only with you
Project memory builds up what the product is, how it is built, a glossary and the open questions - all from your own meetings, updated as things change. It is the onboarding doc you have not had time to write, assembled from work you were doing anyway.
Ask instead of remember
The AI Assistant answers questions about the project from its meetings, specs, requirements, stories, budget and team, and links every source. When someone asks what was agreed in June, that becomes a question rather than an archaeology project.

Frequently asked questions
Can I start without a project management tool?
Yes. Specs, stories, requirements, scope and budget all work inside Spectr. A tracker is just where approved stories go once you have one.
What does it cost to try properly?
Free covers five spec sheets a month with two seats and no card. Starter has a 30-day free trial.
How much setup is there before it is useful?
Connecting a meeting source and a tracker is a few minutes each. Pinning context - a Notion page, a Figma file, a repo - is what most improves the output, and it is a one-off per project.
I am not technical. Is this going to be too much?
The day-to-day is importing a call and reading a list. The technical part is the one-time setup, and every integration page has numbered steps for it.
