Forecast

Budget & team

See who is scheduled on a project, and what they actually logged

A plan that says someone is on a project fifteen hours a week is only useful next to what they actually logged. Connect Harvest Forecast and each project shows who is booked, week by week, on both the Team page and the Budget page. Put that next to logged hours from Harvest and the gap between the plan and reality is visible while you can still do something about it.

How it connects

A Forecast Personal Access Token plus your Forecast Account ID - its own credentials, independent of Harvest.

Before you start

Forecast is a separate Harvest product and is connected separately. You do not need Harvest connected to use it, though allocation is most useful beside Harvest's logged hours.

What Spectr reads from Forecast

Scheduled assignments
Allocation blocks for the connected Forecast project over a rolling three-week window, joined to Forecast's people records for names and avatars.
The project roster
Who is scheduled on the project. Forecast-sourced people are merged with the same person from Harvest, Linear, Jira or Shortcut so one human is one row rather than four.

A person approves everything before it is published

Spectr generates specs and stories, then stops. Every story goes to a review page where you approve it, edit it inline, or reject it - individually or in bulk. Only approved stories reach an issue tracker. There is no auto-publish setting to switch on, because a backlog nobody read is not a saving.

Setting it up

  1. In Forecast, create a Personal Access Token and note your Forecast Account ID.

  2. In Spectr, open the project, go to Integrations, choose Forecast, and enter both.

  3. Pick the Forecast project to map to. The picker shows each option with its client name.

  4. Open the project's Team page for allocation by week, or the Budget page's Team tab to see it beside logged hours.

Frequently asked questions

Do I need Harvest connected to use Forecast?

No. Forecast is a standalone product with its own credentials and connects independently. Connecting both is what lets you compare scheduled allocation against logged hours on one screen.

Does Spectr change my Forecast schedule?

No. Forecast is read-only. Spectr reads assignments and people; it never writes a schedule block.

Are costs shown on the allocation view?

No. The Team views deal in hours only. Money stays on the admin-only budget detail.
