Hand over your project stories & tasks to Conductor

Pick stories and tasks from a project, group them into a workstream on Spectr's Development board, and start a Conductor run with your own account. Spectr writes the brief from the stories, with their acceptance criteria and designs, and you read it before it is sent. The run's progress shows on the board, and it uses none of your Spectr AI allowance.

How Conductor fits in

From stories and tasks to a coding agent.

Two approved stories become one workstream on the Development board. The developer starts a Conductor run from it: their own Conductor account, the repository matched to the project's GitHub repo, and the stories to send. Spectr shows the exact message and sends it only on confirm. The workstream moves to In Progress and the run's state shows on its card. The run uses the developer's Conductor compute, not the workspace's Spectr AI allowance.

How it connects

API key, connected under User Settings > Connections as one of your own External accounts. Your key is checked with Conductor before it is saved, stored encrypted, and never shown again. The connection is yours - personal to you, the same in every workspace, and never shared.

Before you start

A Conductor account. Development and connected accounts are free on every plan.

What Spectr reads from Conductor

Your Conductor projects and workspaces
The repositories you can run an agent in, and the open Conductor workspaces you could link to a Spectr workstream - read with your own account.
Each run's state
Spectr reads a run's state from Conductor while someone is looking at the board or the workstream, never from a background job, and shows it on the card.

What Spectr writes to Conductor

A run's brief, only when you confirm it
One markdown message built from the stories you choose - title, type, priority, estimate, links, description, acceptance criteria and Figma screens - shown in full and sent only when you confirm. Nobody, person or agent, supplies the text; only the stories and an optional note.

Setting it up

  1. In Conductor, create an API key for your account.

  2. In Spectr, open User Settings > Connections and add it under External accounts. Spectr checks the key with Conductor before saving it.

  3. On the Development board, open a workstream and choose Start with Conductor.

  4. Pick the Conductor project and the stories to send, review the exact message, and confirm. The run appears on the card and its state is tracked there.

Frequently asked questions

Anything else? Email hello@crowdlinker.com and a person will answer.

Whose account does the agent run on?

Your own. A run uses the Conductor account you connected, on your own compute, so only you can send more stories to it. A workspace admin or owner can unlink any run, which only ends Spectr's record of it.

Does it use my Spectr AI usage?

No. The agent's work runs on your Conductor account, so Development and Conductor runs cost nothing against your Spectr plan - on every plan, Free included.
