Cursor

AI agents

Use your Spectr project data inside Cursor

Spectr runs an MCP server, so Cursor's agent can look up the story you are on, its acceptance criteria and the decisions in project memory without you pasting them into the editor. Add the address to Cursor's mcp.json, sign in through Spectr, and choose which workspaces it can reach. It sees only what your role allows, and writes only if it asked for write access and you approved it.

How Cursor fits in

Ask Cursor. It answers from Spectr.

Cursor adds Spectr's MCP address and signs in through Spectr, where the person picks which workspaces it may use. Asked "What does the spec say about charts in dark mode?", it calls fetch_entities, fetch_ai_memory and answers from what it read, as that person and within their role.

How it connects

OAuth. The first time Cursor connects it sends you to Spectr's sign-in page, which shows what it asks for - read, or read and write - and where you pick the workspaces before approving. Disconnect it from User Settings > Connections whenever you like.

Before you start

A version of Cursor with MCP support. Connecting is free on every Spectr plan.

What Spectr reads from Cursor

Your workspace data, as you
Projects, stories, spec sheets, requirements and AI Memory - the same records Spectr shows you in the browser, with your role checked again on each request.

Setting it up

  1. In Spectr, find your MCP address under User Settings > Connections.

  2. Add it to ~/.cursor/mcp.json for every project, or .cursor/mcp.json for one.

  3. Approve the connection on Spectr's sign-in page, choosing which workspaces it can reach.

  4. Ask Cursor's agent about a project. It looks up your workspaces, then reads what you asked for.

Frequently asked questions

Anything else? Email hello@crowdlinker.com and a person will answer.

Can Cursor make changes in Spectr?

Only with the "read and write" permission. Then it can take the same actions you can, as you; without it, it reads and nothing more.

Is there a charge for using Spectr from Cursor?

Not for reading, on any plan. Write actions that kick off AI work count toward usage the same way the button in Spectr does.
