Give Spectr your Notion docs as spec context

A story written from a transcript alone just repeats what was said in the room. A story written with your docs open beside it uses your real feature names, your data model, and the decisions somebody already made. Connect Notion, pin up to five pages, and Spectr reads them every time it drafts - keeping the specifics and dropping the boilerplate.

How it connects

OAuth. You authorise Spectr from Notion and choose which pages it can see. Spectr only ever reads.

No plan requirement. Connections are configured per project, and every credential is encrypted at rest.

What Spectr reads from Notion

Up to five pinned pages or databases: You choose them by search, or by pasting a URL for a page nested inside a database - Notion's own search does not index those, so the paste fallback exists for exactly that case.
A condensed version, not the whole page: Spectr reads each document in full, then keeps the parts that matter - names, ids, numbers, decisions, rules - and drops the boilerplate. How much of that fits into the prompt scales with your plan.
A record of what was read: Every generation run lists the Notion documents it actually used, so a story's context is auditable rather than a black box.

A person approves everything before it is published

Spectr generates specs and stories, then stops. Every story goes to a review page where you approve it, edit it inline, or reject it - individually or in bulk. Only approved stories reach an issue tracker. There is no auto-publish setting to switch on, because a backlog nobody read is not a saving.

Setting it up

In Spectr, open the project and go to Integrations.
Choose Notion and click Connect, then pick which pages Spectr may access on Notion's consent screen.
Select up to five pages or databases to pin as project context. Paste a URL for anything Notion search will not surface.
Generate a spec sheet. The Context Gathered panel shows which Notion docs were read.

Frequently asked questions

Does Spectr write anything back to Notion?

No. Notion is read-only context. The only place Spectr writes is your issue tracker, and only after you approve.

Why only five pages?

Because context quality beats context quantity. Five pinned documents that genuinely define the product produce better stories than a whole workspace of meeting notes and half-finished drafts.
